Black Roses

Our Black Roses

Of course a pure black rose does not exist in nature, the closest you might get is a Black Baccara but it's disappointingly a dark red/burgundy and not black at all. So if you really are looking for a true black rose we have created one by using blue dye and a large headed red Naomi rose to create what is the most stunning dark bloom available.

It's important to note the dye process will tend to turn the leaves blue and dry to the touch and turn the water used to hydrate the roses blue as well.

The Meaning of Black Roses

The magic of black roses has attracted our attention throughout the ages, the very colour inspires a powerful feeling of mystical expectation, the very essence of a black rose appears to originate from an unattainable, improbable and unnatural world and it's meaning differs significantly, depending on how they are perceived.

Death and Mourning:
The black color has always been associated with death and the dark side of human nature. So, the conventional meaning of a black rose is death and mourning or bereavement. So, this rare flower does also symbolizes sadness and farewell.

Tragic Love:
Black roses are rarely given to a loved one as they stand for tragic love. A black rose is known to mean the end of something, which could be a relationship, an idea, or a career. So when sent to a lover, a single black rose could symbolize the death of that relationship.

Death is not the only meaning attached to black roses. They do have a positive meaning as well. In fact, black roses could mean a new beginning and rebirth. This flower can represent the death of old habits or the end of an era or experience which can pave the way for a new beginning.
